The Saturday Ride

 We had a little preview of Winter earlier in the week with a bit of morning snow on the sidewalk.  Then the sun returned, so a ride on the trike into Old Town was obligatory.

 I am mostly happy with the picture quality from my little yard-sale 10 mega pixel Panasonic Lumix.

Not so much, though, on bright, sunny days -- when the sun hits your eye like a big pizza pie that's (not) amore.

One way around the screen blanking reflections is to use a magnifying viewfinder that also shades the screen.  I just need to do a little work on the mounting system.

During Balloon Fiesta week I have been carrying around my Nikon FE mounted with a long zoom for shooting balloons.  The little Panasonic rides along in a pocket and lets me get color images during the noontime events in the tree-shaded Plaza Vieja.

Meanwhile...

The old car guys are back on their Summer schedule, showing up around the Plaza Vieja with their meticulously restored classics and customs.

Curbside

These two fellows are regular visitors to the Plaza Vieja.  They park their restored classics in front of the church and sit across the street in the shade to admire them.  Both cars are faultless; they are mostly stock with a few embellishments.

The '57 convertible, with its red and white paint job and the dice hanging from the mirror, screams Rock 'n' Roll.

The coupe is nearer to The Jazz Age.  It rides closer to the pavement than it would have in 1938, and it is a lot shinier.

The Morning Walk

Most of my mornings start off with a walk to the Plaza Vieja.

This is a good time of the year to be an Albuquerque photographer.  The sun nearly always sneaks under the clouds to brightly illuminate the Old Town buildings against the dark sky.

Three or four street-savvy cats can usually be found toward the north end of San Felipe St. where they can count on a meal from a friendly shopkeeper.
