New Mexico averages about. ten inches of rain in a year. This year the Rio Grande was dry for most of the summer months. Now, thanks to the seasonal monsoon, the river is flowing again. Our yard trees will no doubt appreciate the moisture, as will the riverside forest. However, the reservoirs along the Middle Rio Grande will not be replenished unless Winter brings a good snowpack.
